Battle Chronicles. Episode two. Tiger Hill, the decisive assault.

Point five zero six two, known as Tiger Hill, dominated the skyline above Drass and the national highway. Because it could be seen from the road, its recapture carried a weight far beyond its tactical value.

On the night of the third of July, soldiers of the eighteenth Grenadiers and the eighth Sikh climbed sheer rock faces under fire. A frontal feint drew attention while a difficult flanking party made the harder climb.

The assault was supported by one of the heaviest artillery efforts of the campaign. By the morning of the eighth of July, Tiger Hill was firmly in Indian hands.

This has been Battle Chronicles. We remember them.
